Mauritius, a small island in the Indian ocean is worldwide known for its spectacular beaches. When one thinks of Mauritius a picture of clear blue skies and crystal-clear waters comes to one’s mind. After spending a good amount time on this breath-taking island, I can safely say there’s more than just beaches. Below are the few spots I feel that would make you want to pack your bags and take the next flight to this paradise island.
- Roche qui pluere: This place is just hardly 100 m away from the popular tourist spot, Gris Gris but it has a completely different vibe to it. Due to the lack of corals in the surrounding water, the powerful waves crash on the cliff and gives out an illusion of a rock that cries. Once you stand on the shore and witness this, you’ll realise what a spectacle it is.

- Eau Bleue: Located on the southeast of the island, Eau Bleue Waterfall will definitely charm you with its breath taking and stunning views. Soothing to the eyes and to the soul, Eau Bleue Waterfall is simply pure bliss. Named after its turquoise ponds, Eau Bleue Waterfall is a must for all nature lovers and explorers. It is not one of those waterfalls that falls from a height of 20-30mts, but you’ll be nothing but mesmerised by the beauty and aura of this place.

- Sept cascades: I am sure each one of us must have witnessed waterfalls at some point in our life’s and must have been blown away by the beauty mother nature has to offer. Now imagine being able to witness seven waterfalls all at once. Yes, that’s right this hidden place in Mauritius lets you witness an array of seven waterfalls. Every time I visited this place, I just felt I hadn’t gotten enough of it and pulled me to visit it every now and then.

- Pointe D’esny: One just can’t leave out the beaches when visiting this island. There’s whole list of amazing beaches one could visit in Mauritius but this particular is my personal favourite. This beach shares the coastline with the famous beach in the south, Blue Bay. Its amazing how this is beach is just few mts. away from blue bay but the colour difference between the two beaches is completely different. The water is so clear on this beach that one is able to witness small fishes and other organisms at the shore itself. If you’re lucky enough you’ll be able to come across starfishes as well.

- Pont naturel: Words are never enough when it comes to explaining this particular place. The literal translation of Pont naturel is Natural bridge. It’s a volcanic rock formation (2 meters or 6.5 feet long) that looks like a man-made bridge yet it is formed by natural processes. It’s a part of the cliff at Gris-Gris. If you are brave enough, you can try to cross it and you will be able to see the waves hitting the rocks underneath and sometimes passing over the bridge. Choose a spot for yourself and sit and just take in the beauty this place has to offer.
